Brewers, the wait is over! We are thrilled to announce that the highly anticipated SafLager™ SH-45, our latest release for crafting hop-forward lagers, is now available worldwide.
Selected for its remarkable biotransformation abilities, SafLager™ SH-45 unlocks thiols from raw materials. This enables brewers to maximise the aromatic potential of their hops and produce lagers with enhanced tropical fruit and citrus notes.
Philippe Janssens, R&D Technical Manager at Fermentis, says, “SafLager™ SH-45 immediately stood out for its impressive capacity to release hop precursors, more specifically its ability to release free thiols from glutathionylated (G-) precursors found in raw materials such as hops.”
By pairing this yeast strain with appropriate raw ingredients containing thiol precursors (aromatic hops in particular), brewers can achieve results with more pronounced tropical and citrus fruit flavors, such as passionfruit and grapefruit.
This yeast strain’s impressive capability to enhance thiol biotransformation means brewers require less hops for the same effect or more.
SafLager™ SH-45 is available in 11.5g, 100g, 500g and 10kg formats.
